Our last weekend at home came round way too quickly. We spent the morning on Saturday getting most of our stuff packed up, then headed over to Simon and Anita's for a farewell party with our friends. They're a great bunch of mates, and we'll miss them very much. We stayed over so that we didn't have to contend with public transport to get home, then drove home reasonably early on Sunday. Jon's parents came down to Croydon for our last night, and the six of us all went for a lovely meal at The Woodman.
On our last day, we all went for a walk up at Coombe Woods and Shirley Hills to keep ourselves occupied before our flight. Mum prepared a lovely lunch for us, and me, Jon, Dave and Dad messed about in the garden having an air rifle shooting competition which was loads of fun.
Inevitably, the time came to go to the airport for our flight to Australia. We had a drink with Dave, Sheila, mum and dad, and then had to say goodbye. Gives me a lump in my throat just thinking about it. I wondered if it might be easier this time, but how wrong I was! So with a fairly heavy heart, we went through into departures to start the next part of our adventure.....
