Neighbours

The next full week was mainly spent house hunting.  It was really time consuming as we didn't have a car, so we had to get everywhere either on foot or using the tram. The weather was in the mid to high twenties too, which wasn't the best for stomping round the streets of Melbourne.  We found the whole thing quite stressful  - the rental market is a bit cut throat here.  They have an open house for viewings that last 15 minutes, and you end up looking round with about 20 other people.  We missed out on one that we liked because another applicant offered an extra $50 a week above the advertised rent. Crazy stuff! We eventually found a house that we like in a really nice part of Melbourne, and we were able to move in pretty much straight away. Our neighbours all introduced themselves straight away, and one of them came round with two bottles of wine.  That's when good neighbours become good friends eh.....?!
